Construire le pavillon du Golf Cooperation Council (GCC), c’est représenter une communauté, montrer que par la coopération, le travail collectif, il est possible de faire des choses incroyables, plus grandes et meilleures pour la communauté ! Nous avons souhaité que le pavillon du GCC exprime par son architecture ce concept.L’identité commune des pays membres du GCC est d’abord une géographie, une appartenance à un territoire riche de particularités, d’histoires, autour d’une unité très forte : une terre qui est à la fois une terre sainte et une terre riche de ressources. Nous avons donc choisi que l’image du pavillon soit un paysage qui évoque cette terre ainsi que l’ambition contemporaine et technologique des pays membres du GCC. Ce paysage fractal associant la terre et la lumière s’inscrit dans un large rectangle qui couvre les espaces de réception et d’exposition du pavillon.
Il sera le premier signe intrigant de cette représentation de la communauté. Le pavillon semble flotter au-dessus du sol dégageant dans ce soulèvement des entrées qui attirent le public. À l’intérieur, le pavillon propose en contrebas, taillé dans le sol, un jardin extraordinaire. Suspendu à la toiture du pavillon, fleurs, lianes, plantes composent une installation riche en sensations visuelles et parfumées. Sur un miroir d’eau, des scènes, des estrades, des podiums peuvent être dressés afin de créer les conditions d’un spectacle, d’un défilé ou d’une fête.
La toiture sera équipée de tout le matériel de scénographie nécessaire à la mise en œuvre rapide de ces manifestations et festivités. Véritable mise en scène spectaculaire de l’espace, le pavillon, en se laissant découvrir par un jeu avec le visiteur, provoque un délicieux sentiment de merveilleux.
Building the Golf Cooperation Council (GCC) pavilion is representing a community, showing that through cooperation, collective work, it is possible to do incredible, bigger and better things for the community! We wanted the GCC pavilion to express this concept through its architecture.The common identity of the GCC member countries is first of all a geography, a belonging to a territory rich in particularities, strong: a land that is both a holy land and a land rich in resources. We have therefore chosen that the image of the pavilion be a landscape that evokes this land as well as the contemporary and technological ambition of the GCC member countries. This fractal landscape combining earth and light forms part of a large rectangle that covers the reception and exhibition spaces of the pavilion.
It will be the first intriguing sign of this representation of the community. The pavilion seems to float above the ground, freeing in this uprising of the entrances which attract the public. Inside, the pavilion offers an extraordinary garden below, carved into the ground. Suspended from the roof of the pavilion, flowers, lianas and plants make up an installation rich in visual and scented sensations. On a reflecting pool, stages, platforms and podiums can be erected to create the conditions for a show, a parade or a party. The roof will be equipped with all the scenography material necessary for the rapid implementation of these events and festivities. A truly spectacular staging of space, the pavilion, by allowing itself to be discovered through a game with the visitor, provokes a delicious feeling of wonder.
